Everything you need to know about paisley bedding
When thinking about different styles of design in bedding that have become popular, it’s hard for me to imagine the success of paisley bedding. To think that paisley designs are sometimes called Persian pickles, it’s not what you’d expect to dominate the market. And yet when you go to brand after brand, you find a number of different paisley bedding options cropping up.
For the unaware, paisley bedding sets are defined by the kidney-shaped image on the sets that also resembles a teardrop. The design has its origins in Indian and Iran, where it has names like mankolam and boteh jegheh, but for the western world, its name comes from a town in Scotland. The reason for its origins in Scotland comes from the design’s history as it became the defacto producer of the style during the 1800s as the East India Company brought fabrics to England.
When it comes to bedding sets, you can find the design at just about every store in every kind of design. Looking around, we’ve found a number of paisley baby bedding sets, as well as all sorts of different options for kids and adults. If you’ve settled on the pattern, you are in for a treat as there are so many options on the market. We’ll try and give you some ideas, but it’s such a popular style that it can only serve as a jumping point in your shopping search.
One such style that’s seen a ton of demand is the Tommy Hilfiger Royale Safari option. Available at Amazon for 86 dollars, it features golden paisleys with bronze edges. For a queen size comforter, the price is incredibly low for such a styled design. With 9 reviews, the set’s just short of a five star review.
Other options that are similar, include the New Bohemian Comforter from Ralph Lauren and the Colette Paisley style from Pottery Barn. The Colette style features a wealth of smaller paisleys while the Ralph Lauren set features larger looks. After looking at a number of these sets, you’ll quickly see that the design is simple, yet it gives an immediately classy look to your set. It also offers a nice gender neutral option as it doesn’t have the same feminine vibe you might get from a floral design.
And of course, as we mentioned, there’s also a ton of different paisley bedding options available if you’re looking to use the pattern in your baby’s room. The crib patterns were especially abundant at Target, which had this beautiful design. Utilizing a nice mix of pinks and greens, the design was a little pricey for a baby’s room, but it definitely has a classic feel to it.
Overall, paisley bedding is an attractive design style that gives a nice mature look while staying fairly gender neutral. It’s a popular design that is seen in sets featured by a wide variety of designers. Do any of you have a paisley bedding set? Which one did you buy and are you happy with the purchase?
