Purple Bedding’s perfect balance
Purple bedding isn’t a typical option people think of but it is becoming more and more popular as time goes on. Originally, purple sets were stuck with designs that were too feminine and so, ostracized a great deal of the market. However, designers are starting to find that right balance and putting together sets that really utilize the purple spectrum effectively. Blending the purple with the right set of colors can make for a beautiful bedroom that your friends will be envious of.
Sticking with that theme, one of the most common places to find purple bedding sets are in young girls bedroom themes. A lot of Barbie bedding designs will utilize either a pink or purple coloring and so, you’ll see these designs a lot there. This pervasiveness in young girls bedrooms has likely helped slow the expansion of the design into adults rooms, but it is making headway. Looking on sites like Macys or Overstock, you can find a ton of different purple sets. Interestingly, one of the new purple bedding sets for young girls is the Twilight bedding set based off of Bella’s bedroom in New Moon. This design features a classic purple look, with a variety of soft purples and pinks that make the set look more mature.
For adults, purple bedding has been used effectively in a number of designs, including the Calvin Klein Bamboo Flower set. At Overstock, you can find some nice lavender sets by Harmonee and Carissa, and a great purple option from Ardsley as well. I’ve found one of the best ways to utilize purple in your bedroom set is as an accent on a white bedroom set as the color really works well with white. The contrast between the two colors makes for a bold design that really stands out in your room. Overstock has an option that showcases this by Posh.
If you’ve settled on a purple bedding set, you should have no trouble choosing a wall color to match. Depending on the shade of purple, grey, sage green and light blue walls can all make for nice combinations with the set. If you have a darker comforter, you’ll likely want to utilize a brighter colored wall, opting for the blue or green. However, if your comforter is a little lighter, you can make some great room designs with grey walls. One person described their bedroom as having three light grey walls and a dark grey accent wall at the head of the bed.
Overall, you can have a lot of success with a purple bedroom set and we highly recommend it for marrying couples. The designs are much more gender neutral today and provide something that everyone should be able to enjoy. If you have a purple comforter, please share pictures in the comments so we can see what other people have gone with!
